Kazakhstan and the Czech Republic are looking to deepen cooperation within the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) while expanding bilateral parliamentary engagement, following high-level talks in Prague.
The discussions took place during a meeting between Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Kairat Abdrakhmanov, and Michal Ratiborský, Head of the Permanent Delegation of the Czech Parliament to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, The Caspian Post reports via Kazinform.
Both sides highlighted the growing importance of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening political dialogue, building mutual trust and promoting cooperation on regional and international issues. They also emphasized the role of lawmakers in fostering understanding and supporting conflict prevention efforts across the OSCE region.
During the talks, Ambassador Abdrakhmanov pointed to the historic significance of the 2010 OSCE Summit in Astana - the only OSCE summit held in the 21st century - and noted the contribution of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly to its success.
The Kazakh diplomat also reaffirmed Astana’s commitment to constructive engagement across all three dimensions of the OSCE, stressing the importance of a balanced and comprehensive approach to security, economic development and human rights issues.
Beyond multilateral cooperation, the meeting focused on strengthening bilateral ties between Kazakhstan and the Czech Republic. Both parties praised the work of parliamentary friendship groups in the two countries and described them as effective platforms for expanding cooperation and sharing legislative experience.
Abdrakhmanov also briefed his Czech counterpart on Kazakhstan’s ongoing constitutional reforms and the implementation of agreements reached during Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš’ official visit to Astana in April 2026.
