Kazakhstan, Russia Unveil Seven Pillars of Friendship Agreement

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Russian President Vladimir Putin have signed a joint statement on the “seven pillars of friendship and good-neighborliness” between the peoples of Kazakhstan and Russia during high-level talks in Astana.

The signing ceremony marked one of the key outcomes of Putin’s state visit to Kazakhstan and underscored the two countries’ commitment to strengthening long-term strategic partnership and allied relations, The Caspian Post reports via Kazinform.

During the talks, Tokayev and Putin reviewed a wide range of bilateral initiatives and trade and economic projects, including cooperation in education, energy, logistics and environmental programs.

Among the projects discussed were plans for the reintroduction of Amur tigers in Kazakhstan, the launch of an unmanned cargo transport route and the establishment of the Sirius school in Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan’s Agency for Atomic Energy and Russia’s Rosatom also exchanged intergovernmental agreements related to the construction of a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan and the provision of an export loan to support the project.

In the education sector, the ministries of education of Kazakhstan and Russia exchanged agreements on opening the Sirius school in Kazakhstan, aimed at expanding academic and scientific cooperation.

The two countries’ energy ministries additionally signed agreements focused on expanding cooperation in the oil sector.
