Kazakhstan Appoints New Deputy PM

Kazakhstan has appointed Aida Balayeva as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture and Information.

Born in 1974 in the Almaty region, Balayeva is a graduate of Abai Almaty State University and the Kazakh National Agrarian University. Over the years, she has held key roles in public administration, shaping policy in both the capital and the presidential administration, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Balayeva previously led Astana’s Internal Policy Department (2008-2010) before serving as the city’s deputy mayor from 2010 to 2014. She later headed the Internal Policy Department at the President’s Executive Office and then served as Assistant to the President, overseeing the monitoring of citizen appeals.

From 2020 to January 2022, she worked as Minister of Information and Social Development. She then became Deputy Head of the President’s Executive Office, holding the position until 2023.

Since September 2023, Balayeva has served as Minister of Culture and Information - a role she will now continue alongside her new responsibilities as Deputy Prime Minister.
