Kazakhstan Appoints New Presidential Press Secretary

Aibek Smadiyarov has been appointed Advisor to the President of Kazakhstan - Press Secretary of the President, according to a decree signed by the Head of State.

Born on July 7, 1983, in Shymkent, Smadiyarov graduated from the Abylai Khan Kazakh University of International Affairs and World Languages, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

He has built a long career in public service, holding positions across the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including assignments at Kazakhstan’s embassies in Hungary and Vietnam, as well as roles within the President’s press service.

Over the years, Smadiyarov headed the Foreign Ministry’s press service and served in senior posts at the International Information Committee and the Communication Department of the MFA. He was also the official spokesperson for the Kazakh Foreign Ministry before most recently leading the internal policy department at the Presidential Administration.

The appointment follows an earlier decision by the Head of State to relieve Ruslan Zheldibay of his duties as Assistant to the President and Press Secretary of the President of Kazakhstan.
