Key officials from Kazakhstan’s Foreign Ministry and NC KAZAKH INVEST have met with representatives from Austria’s SANLAS Holding GmbH to discuss a groundbreaking project to create Central Asia’s first multidisciplinary medical complex in Almaty.
Gabidulla Ospankulov, Chairman of the Investment Committee at Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Madiyar Sultanbek, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board at JSC NC KAZAKH INVEST, held talks with Professor Dr. Günther Nebel, Founder and CEO of SANLAS Holding GmbH, during a recent meeting, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
The proposed project aims to build a modern rehabilitation center based on Austria’s Lassnitzhöhe and Hollenburg models. The facility will feature 200 to 300 beds and is expected to serve up to 15,000 patients annually, offering integrated physical and psychological rehabilitation services following Austrian standards of medical care.
“This initiative will not only improve patient recovery rates but also reduce government healthcare costs associated with chronic diseases,” Ospankulov explained. “It represents a strategic investment in private healthcare development, technology transfer, and specialist training, aligning with Kazakhstan’s new economic policy.”
The parties also discussed the potential establishment of a similar rehabilitation center in the Tolebi district of the Turkestan region to enhance access to advanced medical services in southern Kazakhstan and create new job opportunities.
Professor Nebel emphasized SANLAS’s dedication to a sustainable partnership, stating, “We see significant potential in Kazakhstan for advancing modern medicine and rehabilitation. Our experience across Europe and Asia shows that combining international standards with local solutions produces sustainable results. We are ready to bring the best Austrian practices to Kazakhstan and collaboratively develop an innovative medical cluster in Almaty.”
