Kazakhstan and China have reached an agreement on the mutual recognition and exchange of national driving licenses, a move expected to make travel between the two countries more convenient for citizens.

The agreement was reached following talks in Beijing between Kazakh Minister of Internal Affairs Yerzhan Sadenov and China’s Minister of Public Security Wang Xiaohong, according to Kazakhstan Today.

Kazakhstan’s Interior Ministry said the arrangement will simplify relevant procedures for citizens of both countries and create more convenient conditions for cross-border travel.

“This will simplify the relevant procedures for citizens of the two countries and create more convenient conditions for mutual travel,” the ministry said.

The talks also resulted in the signing of an agreement between Kazakhstan and China on security and public order at the Khorgos International Center for Border Cooperation.

The new document outlines how the competent authorities of the two countries will cooperate to prevent offenses, respond quickly to potential threats and ensure the safety of citizens within the center.
