Kazakhstan Ranks Fourth Among SCO Countries for Passport Mobility

Kazakhstan has ranked fourth among 10 member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in a passport mobility ranking published by Passport Reports.

Kazakhstan trails Russia, China and Belarus in the ranking, while Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, India, Iran and Pakistan occupy the remaining positions, Qazinform News Agency reports.

The full ranking is as follows:

Russia

China

Belarus

Kazakhstan

Kyrgyzstan

Uzbekistan

Tajikistan

India

Iran

Pakistan

The ranking measures international travel access for passport holders, rather than visa-free arrangements between SCO member states. Membership in the organization does not automatically grant citizens visa-free entry to other member countries, as each state maintains its own border and visa policies.

Passport Reports evaluates passport mobility based on the number of destinations travelers can visit visa-free, obtain a visa on arrival or access through an electronic travel authorization.

When passports receive the same mobility score, the ranking takes into account the number of visa-free destinations, followed by access through electronic travel authorizations and visas on arrival. Passports with identical results across all categories share the same position.

In the publication’s latest global ranking, Kazakhstan’s passport placed 101st worldwide and ranked first in Central Asia.
