Kazakhstan’s Astana Hosts Inaugural ASEAN Summer Festival with Music, Dance, and Cuisine

The inaugural ASEAN Summer Festival has taken place in Kazakhstan's capital Astana as part of the ASEAN Day 2025 celebrations.

Organized by the ASEAN Committee in Kazakhstan, representing Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam, the festival was held at the Indonesian Cultural Centre, marking the 58th anniversary of ASEAN’s founding and the 11th anniversary of the committee’s activities in Kazakhstan, The Caspian Post informs via Kazakh media.

The festival drew over 1,000 attendees, including local residents, ASEAN enthusiasts, and members of the diplomatic corps. Visitors experienced a vibrant program of cultural performances, showcasing traditional music, dance, singing, fashion displays, and culinary demonstrations.

In his opening speech, Malaysia’s Ambassador to Kazakhstan, Mohd Adli Abdullah, highlighted Malaysia’s current ASEAN Chairmanship and extended a warm invitation to Kazakh citizens to visit Malaysia.

The event follows Kazakhstan’s debut at the ASEAN Film Festival with the historical feature Tomiris, reflecting the country’s expanding engagement with ASEAN cultural initiatives.
