Kazakhstan and Slovenia are exploring closer city-to-city ties as Altai Abibullayev, Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Slovenia, met with Ljubljana City Hall leadership.
The meeting focused on establishing twinning relations between Astana and Ljubljana, creating a platform for urban management expertise exchange, joint projects, and strengthened bilateral understanding, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
Slovenian officials expressed interest in Astana’s rapid growth, its ranking in the Oxford Economics 2025 Index, and initiatives like the Astana Smart City. Both sides discussed urban planning, public safety, AI in infrastructure, environmental protection, traffic management, and boosting tourism and investment.
Ahead of the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations, plans were made for joint cultural events, including Kazakhstan Days in Ljubljana, aiming to deepen long-term cooperation between the countries and their capitals.
