The Kazakhstan Tennis Federation has announced that the ATP 250 Almaty Open will take place at Almaty Arena from October 11 to 19, bringing world-class tennis to Kazakhstan.
Part of the global ATP 250 series, the tournament is one of 40 events held across 30 countries, with winners earning 250 ATP ranking points, The Caspian Post reports per Kazakh media.
The prize pool for the Almaty Open is expected to exceed $1 million, making it one of the premier tennis events in the region.
Among the headline players confirmed for the tournament is former World No. 1 Daniil Medvedev of Russia.
“I’m excited to play in Almaty for the first time. It’s a new chapter in my tennis journey. I’ve heard a lot about the warm hospitality, vibrant atmosphere, and passion of the Kazakh fans. I’m happy to return to Kazakhstan. See you on court!” said Medvedev.
Joining him is Greek tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas, a former World No. 3, who previously played in the 2022 ATP 500 Finals in Astana.
“I’m looking forward to returning to Kazakhstan. I played in the 2022 ATP 500 Finals in Astana and this country left warm memories in my heart. I am happy to return to this beautiful country again, and this time to Almaty. See you soon!” he shared.
Also set to compete is Italy’s Flavio Cobolli, ranked World No. 17, and recognized as one of the rising stars of Italian tennis.
Other high-profile participants include Karen Khachanov of Russia, the reigning Almaty Open champion, and Kazakhstan’s leading player Alexander Bublik, a seven-time ATP titleholder and national team captain.
