Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan are poised to significantly enhance their economic cooperation following a successful high-level business mission to Ashgabat.
The Kazakh Ministry of Industry and Construction released new details of the visit, highlighting promising prospects for expanded bilateral trade and investment, The Caspian Post reports, citing Turkmen media.
Led by Mukhamed Andakov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Industry, the Kazakh delegation comprised representatives from around 20 prominent companies spanning key sectors such as mechanical and automotive engineering, mining and metallurgy, light industry, and construction. The broad composition of the delegation underscored Kazakhstan’s strong interest in fostering comprehensive economic ties with Turkmenistan.
During the visit, Kazakh business leaders toured several leading Turkmen enterprises, including Gok Saray, Akar Tekstil, and the Erte factory. A series of B2B meetings with Turkmen companies facilitated the exploration of new partnerships and opportunities for direct trade.
Andakov also held strategic discussions with senior officials from Turkmenistan’s ministries of transport, industry and construction, and railways, as well as with executives from state-run energy companies Turkmengaz and Turkmennebit. Additional support came from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan and the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, who actively participated in talks aimed at expanding trade and launching collaborative projects.
A major outcome of the visit was the signing of a commercial agreement between Turkmen private enterprise Berk Önüm - a producer of adhesive polypropylene coatings - and Intago Kazakhstan, a leading manufacturer of geosynthetic materials. The agreement entails the supply of polyester and polypropylene fiber, signaling a shared commitment to quality and market responsiveness.
Kazakh representatives used the visit to highlight the substantial potential for investment partnerships and encouraged Turkmen investors to participate in joint projects. Such initiatives, they noted, would drive inclusive economic growth across both nations.
The visit demonstrated not only the vitality of Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan relations but also the shared ambition to strengthen strategic partnerships, diversify economic cooperation, and implement transformative joint initiatives. Direct engagement between private sector leaders and public institutions is increasingly becoming a cornerstone of regional progress and prosperity across Central Asia.
