Trade through the Port of Khorgos connecting land-locked Kazakhstan to the sea port of Lianyungang in China continued its upward trajectory in the first half of 2025, with total import and export volumes reaching 22.255 million tons.
This figure represents a 4.3 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2024, The Caspian Port reports via Kazakh media.
The report also noted a significant boost in rail-based trade, with rail transport accounting for 6.923 million tons of goods moved through the port - a robust 22 per cent year-on-year rise. Officials attribute this growth to improved infrastructure and enhanced logistical efficiency.
The positive trade dynamics come on the heels of Kazakhstan’s recent decision to establish the Khorgos-Eastern Gate Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
