Three people injured in a road accident in Kazakhstan’s Mangistau region remain in critical condition.
The victims-a driver and two passengers-suffered multiple severe injuries, including brain contusions, fractured ribs, and broken leg bones, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
One of the passengers was airlifted by sanitary aviation to Aktau for intensive care.
Bekbolat Izbassarov, Chief of the regional healthcare department, stated, “Doctors are doing everything possible to preserve their lives.” He added that the driver is from Zhanaozen, while the two passengers are residents of Karaganda region. One passenger was transferred to the Regional Hospital of Aktau and placed in intensive care.
Earlier, ten people were killed when a minivan overturned in Mangistau on September 11. A criminal investigation has been launched, and an operational headquarters was set up under the direction of the Minister of Internal Affairs.
“The investigation is under the direct control of the Minister of Internal Affairs. Investigators are examining the driver’s actions, the vehicle’s technical condition, the route, and the prevailing conditions during transportation,” said ministry spokesperson Shyngys Alekeshev.
Authorities confirmed that the passengers were en route to the Beket Ata Mosque for a pilgrimage. The Ministry of Internal Affairs, in coordination with local executive bodies and relevant authorities, will provide comprehensive support to the families of the victims and injured, including transportation of the deceased, assistance with funerals, and help with judicial and insurance matters.
Alekeshev added, “The Ministry of Internal Affairs extends its condolences to the families of the victims. We urge all drivers and transport companies to prioritize safety: avoid fatigue behind the wheel and overloading vehicles. A single tired driver can cause a devastating tragedy.”
