UN Regional Development Center to Be Established in Kazakhstan

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has signed the law on the ratification of the memorandum of understanding between the Kazakh government and the United Nations regarding the UN Regional Center for the Sustainable Development Goals for Central Asia and Afghanistan, The Caspian Post reports, citing Qazinform.

The document provides for the establishment of a United Nations Regional Center in Kazakhstan, which will be responsible for promoting and coordinating the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the countries of Central Asia and Afghanistan.

The text of the law will be published in the press.

Earlier, UN Secretary General António Guterres said the opening of the Center symbolizes a new era of cooperation in Central Asia, which is based on common priorities and joint solutions.
