The US has recognized Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan as meeting minimum standards of fiscal transparency in its latest annual assessment of governments worldwide.

The US Department of State reviewed 139 governments and the Palestinian Authority, examining the public availability of budget information, government debt data, state-owned enterprises, natural resource revenues and public procurement, 24.kg reports.

According to the assessment, 73 governments met the minimum requirements for fiscal transparency, while 67 failed to meet the standards. However, 14 countries in the latter group were found to have made significant progress.

Among Central Asian countries, only Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan met the minimum standards. Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan were not included in this category.

The assessment was based on fiscal information covering 2025.
