Kyrgyz Official: Eurasian Economic Union Sets Sights on Unified Exchange Market

Head of the Eurasian Economic Union’s (EAEU) Coordination Department at Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Economy and Commerce Elimbek Kanybek uulu has stated that the EAEU plans to create a unified exchange market.

“The initiative will be a key topic at the upcoming Eurasian Intergovernmental Council meeting scheduled for August 14-15 in Cholpon-Ata, with the market’s launch targeted for 2030,” he said, The Caspian Post reports per Kyrgyz media.

The unified exchange market aims to provide an organized platform for businesses, enterprises, the agricultural sector, and trading companies to buy and sell goods wholesale under transparent and standardized rules.

“Kanybek uulu explained that the common exchange will establish equal conditions for all EAEU member states and promote price transparency by making transactions visible, such as trades between Kyrgyz farmers and Russian buyers. This system is expected to curb informal trading practices by officially recording all transactions and to expand the use of national currencies within the union,” he said.

The upcoming meeting of prime ministers from EAEU member states in Cholpon-Ata will further discuss this initiative and other regional economic cooperation matters.
