Kyrgyz Wrestlers Make Their Mark at CIS Games in Azerbaijan

Kyrgyzstan’s wrestling team has delivered an excellent performance at the Third CIS Games held across seven cities in Azerbaijan.

In Greco‑Roman, Kyrgyz athletes claimed four medals, as confirmed by the Games’ official site. Ramazan Gasanov secured silver in the 55 kg class, while Elimbek Abdykerimov (48 kg), Beknazar Emilbekov (51 kg), and Ilichbek Abdullaev (65 kg) each won bronze, The Caspian Post informs via Kyrgyz media.

In freestyle wrestling, both men and women added six more medals to Kyrgyzstan’s count, including the country’s only gold at the Games.

The Games run until October 8, featuring competitions in 21 sports and a total of 505 medal events. Kyrgyzstan fields a team of 126 athletes and currently lies sixth in the team standings.
