Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan Move to Strengthen Trade and Economic Ties

A delegation from the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, led by Acting Minister of Commerce and Industry Nooruddin Azizi, has visited Kyrgyzstan to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation at the invitation of Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Economy and Commerce Bakyt Sydykov.

During the meetings, Sydykov emphasized that the visit marks a key step in deepening relations between the two countries, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.

The Kyrgyz side expressed interest in exploring new mutually beneficial opportunities across promising economic sectors and briefed Afghan officials on ongoing economic reforms and the country’s significant potential to increase bilateral trade.

Digitalization was a major focus of the discussions, with Kyrgyzstan confirming its readiness to share expertise and best practices with Afghan partners.

Azizi thanked the Kyrgyz authorities for the invitation and underlined the prospects for broader collaboration in trade, economic, and investment areas.

Both countries agreed to establish trade houses in each other’s capitals to strengthen economic ties.

The visit concluded with the signing of a roadmap for bilateral cooperation and a Memorandum of Understanding on trade and economic collaboration, laying the groundwork for enhanced partnership in the years ahead.
