Kyrgyzstan and Armenia Sign 10 Agreements to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

Kyrgyzstan and Armenia have signed a package of bilateral documents aimed at expanding cooperation in education, science, environmental protection, social security and other areas.

The agreements were signed in Yerevan on October 17 during the official visit of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov to Armenia, according to AKIPress.

The package includes a joint statement by Japarov and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, as well as a roadmap for bilateral cooperation covering 2027-2029.

The two countries also signed an agreement regulating travel and residence procedures for their citizens, alongside several memorandums designed to strengthen institutional ties.

Education and scientific cooperation are among the key areas covered by the documents. The agreements provide for collaboration between the countries’ relevant ministries and national academies of sciences, including cooperation in higher education and research for 2027-2029.

Environmental protection is another priority. Kyrgyzstan and Armenia signed a memorandum on preserving Lake Issyk-Kul and Lake Sevan, two major lakes of regional and environmental importance.

The package also includes an agreement on pension provision between Kyrgyzstan’s Social Fund and Armenia’s Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, as well as a memorandum on personal data protection.

In addition, Bishkek and Yerevan officially established sister-city relations, creating a framework for cooperation between the two capitals.
