Kazakhstan Expands Digital Transport Permits With Azerbaijan, Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan

Kazakhstan has expanded electronic exchanges of permits for international road freight transport with Azerbaijan, Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan in 2026, while testing a similar system with Georgia.

The announcement was made by Dastan Zhumakulov, chairman of the Committee for Road Transport and Transport Control, at the NEW SILK WAY international business forum in Astana, according to Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Transport.

Around 700,000 foreign transport permits have been issued electronically, according to the figures presented at the forum.

Kazakhstan is also introducing end-to-end digital monitoring of international road freight operations. The system will cover the entire process, from issuing permits to confirming that they have actually been used, through the integration of government information systems.

The initiative is expected to improve transparency in international freight transport and reduce administrative barriers for businesses.

By expanding digital permit exchanges with key regional partners, Kazakhstan aims to simplify cross-border transport procedures and support more efficient trade and logistics across the region.
