Kyrgyzstan and South Korea are launching a joint project to advance digital transformation.

Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Kubanychbek Turgunbaev met a delegation from the Republic of Korea led by Sang-mi Choi, IEM-TASK Project Manager of the Korea Electronics Industry Cooperative (KEIC), Kabar reported.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the implementation of the "Korea-Kyrgyzstan: Korea's Technology Consulting and Solutions for the Digital Transformation Sector (IEM-TASK) for 2026-2030" project.

The project aims to digitalize transport infrastructure and production, implement modern technologies, and expand Kyrgyz-Korean cooperation. It includes the development of airport management systems, automation of baggage handling and logistics processes, the implementation of bus information systems, electronic displays, smart bus stops, digital information panels, and smart factory technologies.

The project is being implemented with the support of the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Resources of the Republic of Korea, in collaboration with the Korea Electronics Industry Cooperative, the Institute of Painting and Coating Technology, and the Institute of Industrial Technology. The Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Kyrgyz Republic has been designated as the responsible government agency on the Kyrgyz side.

As part of the project, Korean experts will provide technical consultations, facilitate technology transfer, develop digital transformation master plans, and train specialists. In addition, technical seminars will be held in Kyrgyzstan, and training for project participants will be organized in the Republic of Korea.

Approximately 20 public and private sector enterprises from Kyrgyzstan are expected to participate in the project, 10 of which will be selected for participation in the main program.

The IEM-TASK project will be implemented between 2026 and 2030 and is expected to contribute to the digitalization of the country's transport industry and the introduction of modern technologies.
