A team of surgeons from Qatar has arrived in Kyrgyzstan's Bishkek to carry out cochlear implant surgeries for children with hearing impairments at the National Center for Maternal and Child Welfare.
The charity mission, which began on October 30, 2025, involves six top Qatari surgeons who will operate on children selected from across Kyrgyzstan. So far, 64 children have undergone medical examinations and been approved for surgery, The Caspian Post informs via Kyrgyz media.
Qatar is fully funding the implants, surgeries, and post-operative rehabilitation, while also providing training for Kyrgyz doctors and nurses to strengthen local expertise.
Cochlear implant operations have been performed in Kyrgyzstan since 2020, helping restore hearing to more than 200 children. The latest mission, organized under a Memorandum of Understanding between Qatar’s Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs and Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Health, underscores growing international cooperation to expand access to high-tech medical care for children with hearing impairments.
