The World Bank’s long-term survey “Listening to the Citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic” has unveiled that public sentiment in Kyrgyzstan turned increasingly positive, with a growing number of citizens expressing confidence in the country’s direction and economic progress.
The survey, conducted between December 2021 and June 2025, highlights significant improvements in public perception across key areas, including governance, financial stability, and anti-corruption measures, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
As of June 2025, 90 per cent of respondents said they believe Kyrgyzstan is moving in the right direction politically, socially, and economically-marking one of the highest approval ratings since the survey's inception.
Confidence in household financial stability has also surged, with 80 per cent of families stating they feel secure in their economic situation-up from just 32 per cent in late 2021.
Public approval of the national economy has similarly improved. In January 2022, 72 per cent of citizens rated the economic situation as good; by June 2025, this number had climbed to 91 per cent.
Trust in the government’s anti-corruption efforts has reached new highs. The survey found that 93 per cent of rural residents and 89 per cent of urban respondents believe the state is effectively addressing corruption.
Progress was also noted in the area of food security. The proportion of households that relied on loans or selling assets to meet basic food needs has significantly decreased-from 32 per cent to 7 per cent for loans, and 16 per cent to 2 per cent for asset sales.
The number of people experiencing food shortages or hunger has dropped dramatically, with only 5 per cent of households reporting such issues, compared to 41 per cent at the start of the survey.
Life satisfaction has risen sharply-from 54 per cent to 80 per cent, while the percentage of people identifying as poor has decreased to 14 per cent.
The survey also revealed that a majority of respondents now view the government as more transparent and effective, particularly in its support for vulnerable layers of the population.
