China’s Wuhan Sets Off Pioneering Freight Train to Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan

The inaugural multimodal international freight train set off from Wuhan, Hubei Province, marking the launch of a new logistics corridor connecting China with Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.

The service integrates rail and road transportation to optimize efficiency and reduce delivery times, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kyrgyz media.

Train No. 75179, carrying food packaging materials and various other goods, is scheduled to reach Kashgar in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. At Kashgar, containers will be transferred onto trucks to cross the China-Kyrgyzstan border via the Irkeshtam Border Checkpoint before heading to Tashkent, Uzbekistan’s capital.

A senior representative of the international transport and logistics division of Hubei Railway Corporation, noted that this new route will accelerate shipments from Hubei province to Central Asian markets. The innovative logistics approach is expected to reduce transportation and insurance costs by 30 per cent and cut transit times nearly in half-from about 20 days down to 10 days.
