Kyrgyzstan is considering the creation of a new transport corridor that would connect the remote Chatkal district with neighboring Uzbekistan, as part of a broader push to boost tourism and regional development.
The project was discussed at a Cabinet meeting alongside plans for the “Chatkal Resort” - a modern mountain tourism complex set to be built in the Jalal-Abad Region by 2034 with support from private investors, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
The proposed corridor would improve accessibility to the area, assisting to unlock its tourism potential and attract more international visitors.
The initiative is also expected to create new jobs and stimulate economic growth in the region, positioning Chatkal as an emerging destination for eco and mountain tourism in Central Asia.
