Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that Armenia feels it is very close to a stage where peace with Azerbaijan could be considered irreversible.
He made the remarks during an expanded-format meeting with U.S. Vice President JD Vance in Yerevan, highlighting that Vance’s visit reflects significant progress in Yerevan-Washington relations over recent years, particularly during the past year, The Caspian Post reports, citing Armenian media.
Pashinyan described the visit as historic, noting that Vice President Vance is the first U.S. vice president and the highest-ranking American official to visit Armenia. He emphasized that the visit is more than ceremonial, representing the deepening bilateral relationship, and recalled his previous meeting with Vance at the White House a year ago, which he said “had been of great significance for subsequent developments.”
The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to U.S. President Donald Trump and Vice President Vance for organizing the summit last August, which he said led to the establishment of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan. He added that he had recently met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Abu Dhabi, after which both sides felt they were very close to achieving a point where peace could be deemed irreversible.
Pashinyan noted that the next step is the implementation of the TRIPP project, describing it as one of the most crucial elements of the peace process and the Washington Declaration.
