Rizvan Nabiyev, head of the Milli Majlis delegation to the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), visited Qatar from December 22 to 25.
As part of the visit, he attended the opening ceremony of the APA Standing Committee on Budget and Planning, held in the capital city of Doha on December 23, The Caspian Post reports, citing AZERTAC.
Hassan bin Abdullah Al-Ghanim, Speaker of the Shura Council - the Parliament of the State of Qatar, Mohammad Reza Majidi, APA Secretary General, Rizvan Nabiyev, Head of the Milli Majlis delegation to APA, as well as Boris Chernyshov, APA Vice-President, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, addressed the meeting.
In his remarks, Hassan bin Abdullah Al-Ghanim, Chairman of the Qatar Consultative Council, expressed his gratitude to the Parliament of Azerbaijan for its successful chairmanship of the APA, as well as for its significant contributions to the organization’s activities.
Rizvan Nabiyev, APA President's representative, MP, highlighted the growing role of parliamentary diplomacy amid modern global challenges, as well as provided overview of the activities of Milli Majlis during its chairmanship of the organization.
He also mentioned President Ilham Aliyev's strategic vision on enhancing relations with the Central Asian countries, underlining the importance of Azerbaijan’s becoming a full-fledged member of the Consultative Meeting of Heads of State of Central Asia.
Then, the heads of delegations of APA member states delivered remarks on the implementation of the APA’s Budget Planning resolution adopted in Baku and other issues on the agenda.
As part of the event, Hassan bin Abdullah Al-Ghanim, Speaker of the Shura Council, received the heads of the participating states.
