Chinese Envoy Hails 2025 as Landmark Year in History of Baku-Beijing Ties

Chinese Ambassador to Azerbaijan Lu Mei described 2025 as a landmark and most productive year in the history of relations between the two countries.

Speaking at a media briefing on the progress of bilateral cooperation, the ambassador highlighted Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s state visit to China in April, The Caspian Post reports, citing local media.

She noted the signing of the Joint Statement on the Establishment of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the People’s Republic of China, along with 20 agreements spanning various fields.

Lu Mei also emphasized President Aliyev’s participation in events commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Chinese people’s resistance against Japanese aggression and the victory in World War II.

The Chinese diplomat underscored the close collaboration between the two countries in international organizations, including the United Nations (UN) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). According to her, China supports Azerbaijan’s intention to join the SCO and the country’s efforts as the Chairman of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA)
