Russian President Vladimir Putin has held a telephone conversation with his American counterpart Donald Trump, the Russian leader aide, Yury Ushakov, said on Wednesday.

“President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin had a telephone conversation with President of the United States Donald Trump. This conversation lasted more than an hour and a half,” Ushakov said, The Caspian Post reports, citing TASS.

The phone call marked the 12th conversation between the two leaders since Donald Trump returned to the White House in early 2025. Their previous call took place on March 9.

According to Ushakov, Putin informed Trump that he is prepared to declare a ceasefire during the Victory Day celebrations.

The presidential aide noted that Donald Trump “spoke positively of the Easter ceasefire recently announced by Russia.”

“In this regard, Vladimir Putin informed his US counterpart that he is ready to declare a ceasefire for the period of Victory Day celebrations as well,” Ushakov said.

He added that Trump “actively supported the initiative,” noting that the holiday marks a shared victory over Nazism in World War Two.

The two leaders agreed to maintain contact both personally and through their aides and representatives. “The presidents agreed to continue staying in touch personally and at the level of their aides and representatives,” Ushakov stated.

“The presidents shared a warm farewell and wished each other all the best,” he added.

They also discussed the prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation in the economic and energy sectors. According to Ushakov, both sides highlighted significant opportunities for joint projects.

“When Russian-US relations were discussed, huge prospects of mutually beneficial projects in the economy and the energy segment were noted by both sides,” he said.

“The entire range of large-scale initiatives in the economy, as the presidents noted, has already been discussed in detail between representatives of our countries,” Ushakov added.
