An IETT (Istanbul Electric Tramway and Bus) bus lost control and crashed into the garden wall of a residential complex on Kennedy Street in Istanbul’s Zeytinburnu district, killing two people and injuring 16 others.
One of the injured is in critical condition, The Caspian Post reports, citing the local newspaper Milliyet.
The accident occurred at around 5 p.m. on Kennedy Street. The IETT bus was traveling toward Bakırköy when it lost control and crashed into the garden wall of the residential complex.
Following reports from bystanders, fire, police, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. Medical personnel determined that Solmaz Karadoğan and another person had died in the crash, while 16 others were injured, including one person who was seriously injured.
Emergency crews continue to work at the scene. All lanes of the side road along Kennedy Street have been closed to traffic due to the accident.
The crash was also captured by a security camera. The footage shows a car traveling in the same direction attempting to change lanes and maneuvering in front of the IETT bus. The bus then appears to veer off the road before crashing into the garden wall.
