At least one crew member has been killed after a ship was attacked off the coast of Oman.

The Omani Maritime Security Centre said one of the country’s Royal Navy vessels evacuated 27 crew members from the attacked ship, which was flying the flag of Antigua and Barbuda, The Caspian Post reports, citing Al Jazeera.

In a statement posted on X, the centre said a fire broke out in the ship’s engine room as a result of the attack. It added that the vessel was struck 2.5 nautical miles (4.6 kilometers) from Oman’s Musandam Governorate.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
