A cargo ship has run aground at Çilingöz Beach in the Çatalca district of Türkiye's Istanbul city on the Black Sea coast.

Coast guard units have been dispatched to the scene, and specialists have begun preparations to refloat the vessel, according to ntv.com.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the ship’s name, flag, type or the cause of the incident. The vessel may be a large bulk carrier or tanker.

No information about injuries or marine pollution has been reported so far.

The incident comes after Istanbul authorities warned of strong winds and storm gusts reaching 60-80 km/h in parts of the city and its surrounding areas, including Çatalca.
