Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said that Türkiye is closely following the peace negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, which recently took place in Abu Dhabi.
President Erdoğan made these remarks during a phone talk with President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, The Caspian Post reports, citing local media.
The Turkish leader emphasized that Türkiye remains committed to supporting all efforts aimed at establishing lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus.
During the phone call, both leaders praised the positive momentum in the Türkiye-UAE relations, underlining that their strategic partnership has yielded fruitful cooperation across various sectors. They highlighted strong potential for further collaboration, particularly in the defense industry and high-tech innovation.
The phone call came shortly after a high-level meeting between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, which took place in Abu Dhabi on July 10. The meeting began with a joint session involving both delegations, followed by one-on-one talks between the two leaders.
Lasting over four hours, the negotiations were described as constructive and focused on key issues in the peace process, including the delimitation of borders, the development of the Zangezur Corridor, and the initial drafting of a peace agreement.
Both sides reached a common understanding to continue discussions through specialized working groups and at higher diplomatic levels, reflecting growing momentum toward a long-term resolution of the conflict.
