Russia to Ramp Up Oil and Gas Supplies to Uzbekistan

Energy cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan is set to expand, with plans to increase supplies of oil and natural gas.

The announcement was made by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin during the 6th session of the joint intergovernmental commission, held with Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

Mishustin confirmed that agreements have been reached to continue and increase exports of Russian oil and gas to Uzbekistan, though specific volumes were not disclosed.

Beyond supplies, Russia is actively involved in modernization of Uzbekistan’s energy sector, including:

Drilling new wells

Upgrading refining capacities

Modernizing gas transportation infrastructure

Trade growth and long-term goals

Bilateral trade between the two countries grew by 12.5% in 2025, nearing 1 trillion rubles. Moscow and Tashkent aim to boost trade turnover to $30 billion by 2030.

Aripov noted that cooperation in energy continues to strengthen, highlighting the construction of a nuclear power plant in the Jizzakh region based on a Russian project as a new milestone in relations.

Further discussions on major joint projects are expected at the Tashkent International Investment Forum in June 2026, signaling even deeper economic integration ahead.
