Uzbekistan, Serbia Explore New Investment Opportunities

Uzbekistan and Serbia are seeking to strengthen trade and investment cooperation, with officials discussing new opportunities for direct business-to-business ties ahead of an upcoming visit by the Uzbek president to Serbia.

The talks were held between representatives of the two countries’ business communities, according to UzDaily.

Jamil Maksudi, adviser to the chairman of Uzbekistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, held meetings with Serbian business representatives, including Serbian Deputy President at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mihailo Vesovic.

The sides reviewed the work of the Uzbekistan-Serbia Business Council, potential joint investment projects and ways to expand direct contacts between companies.

Several sectors were highlighted as particularly promising, including agriculture, information and communications technology, and light industry.

The discussions also covered trade conditions and opportunities to make use of the advantages provided by the GSP+ trade scheme.

Officials see closer business contacts and joint investment projects as key tools for expanding economic ties between Uzbekistan and Serbia.
