An unusual discovery in Fergana, Uzbekistan, has caught attention after officials found an artificial swimming pool containing Siamese sharks in the basement of an apartment building.

A local resident had converted the basement into a pool and installed a special system to maintain the water at the temperature required for the fish, according to Gazeta.uz.

The man was issued an administrative violation report and fined for breaching water-use regulations and illegally using drinking water.

Police officers also ordered him to vacate the basement within 15 days and restore the premises to their original condition.

Siamese sharks are freshwater fish native to Southeast Asia. They typically live in warm waters with temperatures of around 28°C, making temperature control essential for keeping them in an artificial environment.
