Kazakhstan Boosts Grain Shipments to Uzbekistan

Kazakhstan has significantly expanded its grain exports to Uzbekistan, recording a 55% increase over the past year.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, total exports have surpassed 9.8 million tons, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.

“According to JSC ‘NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy’, from September 2024 to August 10, 2025, grain exports amounted to 9.8 million tons, which is 55 percent higher compared to the same period in 2023-2024,” the ministry said in a press release.

The statement noted that the significant increase in supply reflects strong demand for Kazakh grain in foreign markets.

The ministry also provided data on export dynamics to key destinations.

Grain exports from Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan rose by 34.4 percent - from 2.75 million tons to 3.7 million tons. Supplies to Tajikistan grew by 46 percent, reaching 1.4 million tons compared to 960,000 tons a year earlier. Exports to Afghanistan increased by 51.6 percent - from 217,000 tons to 329,000 tons. Deliveries to Kyrgyzstan doubled, rising from 131,000 tons to 262,000 tons.

The most notable growth was observed in exports to Iran, which increased 16 times - from 61,000 tons to 974,000 tons. Supplies to Azerbaijan surged 121 times, from 6,000 tons to 728,000 tons.

It should be recalled that in 2024, Kazakhstan harvested 26.7 million tons of grain - the highest yield ever recorded in the country. Traditional export markets for Kazakh wheat include Central Asian states such as Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan, as well as Afghanistan.
