North Korea intends to “invariably support” Russia and its people, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said in a reply telegram to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“I firmly believe in the victory of the Russian Federation in today’s sacred war to protect the country’s security interests and international justice, and promise to invariably support you and the fraternal Russian people,” Kim said in the telegram, according to rbc.ru.

Kim also thanked Putin for congratulating him on the 78th anniversary of the founding of North Korea. He said relations between Pyongyang and Moscow are based on “traditions of friendship, good-neighborliness and mutual assistance” as well as strong allied ties.

On September 9, Putin congratulated Kim on North Korea’s founding anniversary. The Russian president said relations between the two countries have consistently been built on friendship, good-neighborliness and mutual assistance, and expressed Moscow’s readiness to continue strengthening their comprehensive strategic partnership.

Russia and North Korea signed a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty in June 2024, further deepening ties between Moscow and Pyongyang.
