Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan explained today why Armenia refused to host the meeting of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) Supreme Economic Council.
Speaking in Parliament, he stated, "I personally considered it inexpedient to hold the event in Armenia. Unfortunately, for reasons known to you, and which I have publicly stated before, not all members of the EEU Supreme Economic Council are welcome in Armenia," The Caspian Post reports, citing Armenian media.
Regarding Armenia’s ratification of the Rome Statute, Pashinyan highlighted that the country had communicated with Russian officials and provided an example based on Armenia's bilateral agreement with the United States. "We have a bilateral agreement with the United States that outlines specific aspects of our relations under the Rome Statute. We proposed the same mechanism to Russia, but, for reasons unknown, Russia did not agree to it," Pashinyan explained.
