The EU has announced an easing of Schengen visa regulations for Turkish citizens, marking a positive step toward improved mobility and renewed dialogue on visa liberalization.
Head of the EU Delegation to Türkiye Thomas Hans Ossowski revealed the update during a statement in Ankara, highlighting the EU's willingness to make travel more accessible for Turkish nationals, The Caspian Post reports via local media.
Ossowski stated that Turkish citizens who had previously used their visas appropriately would be eligible to receive a six-month visa upon their second application. He added that with further applications, they could qualify for multi-entry visas valid for one, three, and eventually five years, noting that the process would become significantly simpler and faster as a result.
He urged the rapid resumption of negotiations on visa-free travel between Türkiye and the EU, noting that the European Commission is prepared to restart official discussions after the summer.
