Kazakhstan has temporarily suspended a number of joint projects with Iran as the situation in the country grows more complex, signaling a cautious shift in bilateral cooperation.
Deputy Foreign Minister Arman Issetov said the decision affects multiple initiatives, including grain supplies and food trade projects-key areas of economic interaction between the two nations, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
The move comes in response to instability in Iran, which has disrupted ongoing cooperation. Despite the pause, Kazakhstan insists the overall economic impact remains limited.
The Kazakh Ministry of National Economy previously noted that the broader geopolitical situation in Iran is not significantly affecting the country’s foreign trade.
Even as some projects are frozen, both sides are signaling continued interest in long-term cooperation. Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev recently met with Iran’s ambassador Ali Akbar Jowkar to discuss current relations and future prospects.
