Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has reportedly gained access to US military technology after capturing an American unmanned underwater vehicle near the Strait of Hormuz.
The underwater device is equipped with a range of sensors, environmental monitoring systems, cameras and data-transmission equipment, according to Fars News Agency.
Iranian specialists are also reportedly examining its autonomous control, navigation and secure communications systems.
Studying the captured equipment could provide Tehran with insights into US underwater shipbuilding technologies. Such information could potentially be used for the reverse engineering and development of Iran’s own unmanned underwater vehicles.
