Putin Sets Date for Russia’s Next Parliamentary Elections

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree scheduling the next elections to the State Duma, the lower house of parliament, for September 20, 2026.

The decree formally launches preparations for the formation of a new convocation of the State Duma, The Caspian Post reports via Severpost.ru.

The decree comes into force on the day of its official publication, June 16.

The State Duma-Russia’s federal legislative body-is elected for a new term every five years and plays a key role in shaping domestic legislation and national policy.
