Two construction workers were trapped underground after a section of soil collapsed at a building site in Bahçelievler district in Türkiye's Istanbul city.

The incident occurred during excavation work to prepare the site’s foundations, TRT Haber reports.

Following an emergency alert, firefighters, medical teams and search-and-rescue crews were dispatched to the scene.

Rescue workers are carrying out operations to locate and pull the two workers out from beneath the collapsed soil. Their condition remains unknown.
