Russia Launches Hypersonic Missile at Ukraine

Russia has fired its hypersonic Oreshnik missile at a target in Ukraine as part of a large strike on energy facilities and drone manufacturing sites.

The strike was in response to an alleged Ukrainian drone attack on one of President Vladimir Putin’s residences at the end of December, The Caspian Post reports via foreign media.

Kyiv has dismissed the claim, calling it “a lie.”

Earlier, the governor of Ukraine’s western Lviv region reported that a Russian strike had hit an infrastructure target. Unverified social media posts suggested the target may have been a large underground gas storage facility.

The strike highlights the ongoing escalation in the region as both sides continue to exchange accusations over attacks and counterattacks.
