Russia Targets Train with Double Strike in Zaporizhzhia Oblast

Russian forces launched a double strike on a train’s locomotive and passenger carriages in Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region, with early reports indicating that no injuries were reported, according to Mykola Kalashnyk, Minister for Recovery, Infrastructure and Transport.

Kalashnyk said all passengers and staff were moved to safety thanks to the work of a monitoring group and the swift response of railway workers, The Caspian Post reports, citing Ukrainska Pravda.

He pointed out that Russia continues to deliberately attack civilian railway infrastructure, but that train services and the work of Ukraine's railway system are continuing.

Kalashnyk said the relevant ministry, in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence and the state-run railway operator Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways), is working to strengthen the resilience of railway transport amid Russian attacks.
