Russian Authorities Foil Terror Plot in Moscow Region, Detain Suspected Ukrainian Operative

Russian security forces have prevented a planned terrorist attack in the Moscow Region, apprehending a man suspected of acting on behalf of Ukrainian intelligence.

Spokeswoman for the Russian Interior Ministry Irina Volk said that officers from the Center for Combating Extremism in the Moscow Region, working alongside the Federal Security Service (FSB), detained a 27-year-old Volokolamsk resident accused of transporting explosives for the plot, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.

Volk explained that the suspect initiated contact with an unknown handler via a messenger app, expressing readiness to cooperate with Ukrainian security agencies. Following instructions, he retrieved a package containing explosives from a garage complex in Lyubertsy, intending to hand it over at Izmailovsky Park in Moscow for subsequent use. He was arrested while carrying out the operation.

A criminal case has been opened under Articles 30 and 205 of the Russian Criminal Code, and authorities are actively investigating to identify and locate any accomplices involved in the plot.
