Russian forces launched glide bomb strikes on the southeastern Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia on the evening of July 19, killing two people and injuring 42 others, including eight children.

The attack struck a five-story and a nine-story residential building, causing severe destruction. Zaporizhzhia Regional Governor Ivan Fedorov said two floors of the five-story building collapsed, while the second apartment block suffered shattered windows and damaged balconies, The Caspian Post reports via Kyiv Independent.

Fedorov also reported that a logistics terminal was hit during the bombardment and said the city's private residential sector sustained extensive damage, though he did not identify the affected facilities.

Emergency crews rescued several people trapped beneath the rubble as search and rescue operations continued. Ukrainian authorities have not yet released details on the condition of the injured.

Zaporizhzhia, one of Ukraine's largest industrial centers, lies about 20 kilometers (12 miles) from the frontline and has been repeatedly targeted since Russia launched its full-scale invasion in 2022.

The strike came just hours after a large-scale Russian ballistic missile attack on Kyiv overnight on July 19, which Ukrainian authorities said killed at least one person and injured 17 others in the capital and surrounding areas.
