A food shortage has emerged in Russia’s Evenki District in Krasnoyarsk Territory, leaving residents of the settlement of Tura struggling to obtain essential supplies.
The shortage was caused by falling water levels in the Lower Tunguska River, which brought river navigation to a halt and disrupted food deliveries, according to vfokuse.mail.
Supplies arrived by air only recently through a subsidized delivery program. However, residents faced strict purchase limits, with each person allowed to buy just three kilograms of potatoes, 10 eggs, two kilograms of onions, one head of cabbage and one liter of milk.
Earlier in October, local authorities promised to deliver seven tonnes of food to residents across Evenkia. However, two cargo flights were unable to depart because of adverse weather conditions.
