Türkiye Detains 20 Suspects in FETÖ Operation Across Six Provinces

Turkish authorities have detained 20 suspects, including serving and former public officials, in an operation targeting a covert FETÖ police structure across six provinces, with the investigation coordinated from Istanbul.

The operation was carried out under the coordination of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. Investigators reportedly identified information about the suspects on an SD card obtained from a secret witness using the code name “Garson”, Hürriyet reports.

According to the investigation, the suspects maintained contact with members of the organization’s covert cells, held accounts at Bank Asya or recorded increases in their funds there, and appeared in records of sequential phone calls.

Investigators believe some of the suspects held leadership positions within FETÖ’s covert police structure.

The operation targeted 21 addresses across six provinces. Among those detained are five serving public officials, three former officials and 12 private-sector employees.

FETÖ, which Turkish authorities accuse of orchestrating the failed 2016 coup attempt, remains a major focus of Türkiye’s security and law-enforcement operations.
